Letter: An alternative for opera buffs
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
For those who are tired of enduring the abuse of the management at the Beacon Cinema while attending the Metropolitan Opera simulcasts, I would like to offer an alternative.
This Friday, our new, outstanding cultural venue, the Whitney Center for the Arts on Wendell Avenue in Pittsfield, is presenting another of its ongoing series, Opera Notte, a night at the opera. The event features local artists singing arias, duets and ensemble pieces from a selection of great operas. The Whitney has a genial ambiance, refreshments are affordably priced, the hosts and staff are very accommodating and the cost for the live performance is less than the pricey Met broadcasts.
Having attended in the past I can attest to the high quality and enjoyability of the performances. Please consider supporting our local establishment and artists by attending Opera Notte at the Whitney Center for the Arts. I guarantee you will have a great time and be treated with the utmost consideration.
