Letter: Another aspect of Lauren Bacall

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

I was saddened to read of the passing of Lauren Bacall. I had an opportunity to see her in a role very seldom seen by the public.

Several years ago, my family and I were enjoying a meal at a Thai restaurant on Spring Street in Williamstown when in the booth directly behind me an infant started fussing. At that time a very recognizable voice said "I’ve got it." and Lauren Bacall carried the child outside and walked up and down the street with a stroller. Shortly she returned with a sleeping child in her arms.

It was touching to see this Hollywood icon, this goddess of the silver screen, play the role of Nana.
