Letter: Avoid puppy mills, go to shelters instead

Avoid puppy mills, go to shelters instead

To the editor:

Puppy mills are places that breed dogs and sell them to stores. The animals there are abused by owners. Buying puppies from pet stores helps support puppy mills.

If you want to get a healthy animal then get one from an animal shelter. You can get a well-cared-for animal and have a happy life with it.

Alyssa McNeil, Pittsfield Fourth- and fifth-graders from the Berkshire Humane Society's Camp Humane submitted letters based on what they learned about puppy mills.
