Letter: Bars, restaurants close far too early
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I was pleased to see the July 10 article "Berkshire After Dark: Late night haunts for night owls." As a 28-year-old resident of Pittsfield returning to the Berkshires after years of living away, it’s hard to find establishments whose hours jibe with the lifestyles of those in their 20s and 30s.
I was pleased to discover Adrien’s, a late night diner, and was wondering why it wasn’t included in the list of late night haunts that stay open after hours. But this article poses a bigger question -- where is there actually to hang out in the Berkshires after dark?
There are so many fun restaurants and bars in the Berkshires -- why don’t any of them stay open all night or at least until 3 or 4 a.m.? If Pittsfield is truly gaining a reputation as the Brooklyn of the Berkshires, perhaps someday business hours will live up to their reputation.
