Letter: Bass is right about novel
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I want to express complete agreement with Ruth Bass’ column about Donna Tartt’s novel, "The Goldfinch" ("Tough going in hearing prize novel," July 7).
I was able to get a copy from my local library in New York City -- very fat book -- and did not finish it. I too lost interest in the story which never seemed to go anyplace. It was completely unclear to me why it won the Pulitzer Prize or caused the sensation that it did at publication.
