Letter: Be informed on better bottle law

Posted

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

MassPIRG, a student run and student funded nonprofit, has been working very hard on a petition to include water, sports drink, and juice bottles to be redeemable for the five-cent deposit in an expanded bottle bill. This issue is very important because these bottles are filling our landfills because people aren’t encouraged to recycle and get that money back.

In the upcoming election, in November, the bottle bill will be included on the ballot, and citizens are encouraged to vote on this issue so that these bottles are a part of the bottle deposits. Not only will this save consumers money it will also save our environment, who could say no to that?

There will be an awareness campaign today throughout North Adams and from noon to 2 p.m. on the campus of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
