Letter: Beacon welcomes Taconic students
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
On Feb. 27, 180 students and staff of Taconic High School were given the opportunity to view the film "The Monuments Men" at the Beacon Cinema. The management and staff were willing to open early and welcome the large group. We were treated very well and the students were able to learn about a little known aspect of World War II and left the theater both entertained and appreciative of the efforts to save the great works of art mentioned in the film.
We would like to thank the Beacon Cinema for opening the venue to our students and also the willingness of management to do so at a discounted price. The Beacon has proven to be a supporter of the Pittsfield Public Schools and an asset to downtown Pittsfield.
The chairman of the Taconic Social Studies Department, Mr. Casey writes for the entire department.
