Letter: Catholic church serves Housatonic
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
As a member of the Unitarian Universalist Meeting of South Berkshire, I’d like to thank Dick Lindsay for his excellent article accompanied by photographs in Monday’s paper about our congregation’s recent purchase of the historic Congregational Church building in Housatonic. However, the Unitarians have not purchased "the only active church building in Housatonic," though it is the oldest.
There happens to be an alive, very active Roman Catholic congregation whose building is right on the corner of Main and High Streets just a few doors down from us! When I arrived on Sunday morning for our very first service in our new home, I noticed several members of that congregation outside in the brilliant sunshine after their morning Mass, tending to flower beds.
As the newcomers in town, we UUs look forward very much to being their neighbors.
