Letter: CINO oped columnists don't provide diversity
Congratulations to two recent letter writers, Tim Laraway and Thomas D. Gilardi, who dared to praise President Trump and to criticize liberal Democrats in a paper that is over-laden with left-slanted political cartoons and commentaries. The Eagle features commentaries from The New York Times and The Washington Post, papers that are unabashedly left-wing biased. Notice the repetitive use of seriously-left contributors Paul Krugman, Eugene Robinson, Thomas Freidman, Gail Collins, and EJ Dionne. In an attempt to appear "balanced" this paper prints commentaries by whom I call "CINOs" (Conservatives in Name Only). Some CINO club members are Michael Gerson, Kathleen Parker, Jennifer Rubin, and David Brooks. Having documented the topics of the aforementioned CINOs, I have observed their almost exclusive dissemination of leftist philosophy, despite their faux "conservative" label.
Perhaps readers would appreciate real diversity of opinion by authentic conservatives such as Michelle Malkin, Jonah Goldberg, Monica Crowley , Guy Benson, Laura Ingraham, Mark Steyn and others who are not subservient to their employers.
One type of bias which The Eagle employs is bias by omission. Examples: Why has the murder of Kate Steinle by an illegal immigrant in a sanctuary city and the defendant's stunning acquittal not been reported? Why has the scandal involving Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and the IT aide to the Congress, Imran Awan, been barely reported? That illegal activity had serious national security implications. Why hasn't the involvement of then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation in the Uranium One scandal been reported with the prominence it deserves?
Not being reported in The Eagle is the fact that FBI agent Peter Strzok. one of Robert Mueller's lead investigators of the Special Council's Russia probe, was removed from the investigation after it was discovered he sent emails detailing his animosity toward President Trump. Strzok was involved in the investigation of Hillary Clinton's illegal use of the personal server to mail classified documents. These felonies seem to have slid off her as if she were coated in Teflon! Are not all the above newsworthy?
Not surprisingly, The Eagle avoids reporting any of President Trump's achievements. No mention of the fact that illegal immigration is down over 60 percent since he took office. No mention of all the record highs the stock market has achieved since Trump has restored confidence in the economy. He has negotiated equitable trade deals with countries that have unfairly profited for years at America's expense. He has removed many unnecessary regulations that have hurt businesses, boosting their paths to economic success.
President Trump has initiated an all-out war on crime, pledging to eliminate MS-13 gangs. He is working to address the opioid epidemic. He has met with many world leaders to improve relations. The GDP growth is over 3 percent! The unemployment rate is the lowest it has been in years. Trump has made veterans, the military and our nation's security top priority. Are these not newsworthy?
