Classy Berkshire Force were great ambassadors

To the editor:

Hat's off to the Berkshire Force 14U and 16U teams for their outstanding performance at the Babe Ruth World Series in Jensen Beach, Fla. I was fortunate enough to be among the many family members who cheered them on. Their hard work, dedication and softball skills paid off handsomely.

It was inspiring to watch how they handled the pressure of stiff competition and temperatures that soared to nearly 100 degrees. Their sportsmanship, team spirit and caring coaches enabled them to compete against the best and to develop new friendships among their competitors.

It was an honor to cheer them on and then feel elated when they stood in the winner's circle taking home 1st place and 3rd place trophies. The individual honors they received were a testimony to the effort and skill they put forth during the series.

I would like to say thanks to the coaches, the parents and the fans for all they did to help them achieve so much success. I'd also like to thank the many businesses and citizens throughout Berkshire County who contributed to the fund-raisers and corporate sponsorships that enabled both teams to make the trip to Jensen Beach possible.

Pittsfield was well-represented by the Berkshire Force teams. They were remarkable ambassadors for our city and truly deserve the highest form of praise.

Beverly J. Tobin, Pittsfield
