Letter: Coming together in difficult times
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
These are very difficult times in North Adams. The care that the staff of Northern Berkshire Health and North Adams Reg-
ional Hospital has given the community for over a hundred years is what everyone needs. In my own experience, my family members were treated like they were family members of the hospital staff. You cannot ask for anything more. Sadly, the hospital has run out of money and life, as we all know it, is changing.
Berkshire County has many caring people and many caring individuals. I’d’ like to particularly thank the administrators and staff at Berkshire Health Sys-
tems for stepping up and doing whatever they can to fill in the gaps. They care and are risking a lot to ensure that the residents of North County can continue to receive the "family care" they so deserve. The work that Berkshire Health Systems is doing to ensure continuity of care for northern Berkshire residents shows the signs of a growing compassionate county.
I feel for those who are now out of work at the hospital and hope that in our evolving health care system for Berkshire County, many of the staff of North Adams Regional Hospital will be able to find new employment opportunities within our new system.
