Letter: Confine assault weapons to shooting ranges only
Confine assault weapons to shooting ranges only
To the editor:
I have owned many guns over the years and was an expert rifleman in the Marine Corps. I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment.
My problem is with the proliferation of assault weapons that were designed for the military and were meant to be used as such. They have no use in civilian life except for target practice. They have no use in hunting.
This is my proposal for solving the problem.
Establish shooting ranges independently operated and licensed by the government. All assault weapons are to be stored in a secure building at the range where they can be used daily. All ammunition will only be sold by the shooting range. Anyone violating the law would be subject to penalty.
I am sure someone will disagree with my proposals. Let's hear from them.
