Letter: Court’s rulings are un-American

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

Americans love and pledge allegiance to Norman Rock-
well’s images of America. None are more revered than his "Four Freedoms." A man in a leather jacket standing in a church pew depicts Freedom of Religion, i.e., the right to worship as one chooses.

That’s what the framers of the Constitution meant and the way "freedom of religion" has always been interpreted. Not until now, did it ever mean the state’s right to tell people they had to live according to other people’s religious beliefs.

The latest religion-driven Supreme Court decisions contravene the principles of freedom of religion and the separation of church and state. They are un-American.
