Letter: Critical pipeline vote for Dalton
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Dalton voters will have a chance at Town Meeting June 30 at 7 p.m. at Wahconah Regional High School to discus and vote on the important issue, "Resolution to Ban New High Capacity Pipelines and to Champion Sustainable Energy." In addition, at the Dalton Select Board meeting on June 23, this topic will be discussed.
Based on the informational public meeting I've attended, I'm in favor of the above resolution and encourage folks to get informed.
There are many shortcomings being hidden by the idea of "clean, cheap" energy from gas. Find out the reality and think about the costs the electric ratepayers will be charged for the proposed pipeline expansion, that the main benefit for the large line you pay for is to connect to port in Canada to export gas, and that there are many pollutants in the significant gas leaks that we will be exposed to.
Folks, take a little time to get informed and make an informed vote on June 30. We can make a difference.
