Letter: Data needed on PCB assertions

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

Steve Pavlosky’s excellent letter to The Eagle described the permanent damage to the environment if the so-called PCB project goes ahead as planned ("Wrecking river for no reason," June 25.) He failed to mention two other concerns.

* The use of nearly $700,000 to basically move mud from Pittsfield to parts unknown. Money which would better used if placed in a trust fund for our schools.

* The Eagle continues to refer to the PCB material as a "possible" cancer-causing chemical. Do you have any approved scientific data? If not, then assign one of your reporters to obtain the data.
