Letter: Deliver Cans for Stans to Petco

To the Editor of THE EAGLE:

I would like to let everyone know that Cans for Stans is holding a can/bottle drive today from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Petco in the TJ Maxx Plaza. Cans for Stans is named after a gentle, loving German shepherd named Stanley who we had the great fortune to adopt when he was 11 years old. Our time with him was too short but he made every moment count and gave our family so much love.

When he left us we wanted to do something to honor all he gave us and we wanted to help other animals like him find their forever homes with someone to love and be loved by. So Cans for Stans was born. All the money we raise is split between the Eleanor Sonsini Shelter and the Berkshire Humane Society. The money sponsors senior pet adoptions and/or medical treatment an older dog or cat might need before adoption.

Thanks to everyone’s support these past three years we have raised more thanr $3,000, donated more than 50 pounds of tabs to the Shriners and helped over 50 pets find a home! This year we are lucky enough to have a sponsor for a matching donation so please bring your redeemables to Petco on Saturday and we can help even more.

If you can’t be at Petco we will come and pick up your donation, just call 743-3836. Thank you all everyone for the support you’ve given us; it means the world to these loving pets.
