Letter: Double standard on drug dispensaries

Double standard on drug dispensaries

To the editor:

I read in The Eagle that the proposed medical marijuana dispensary in the old KFC building was shot down by the Zoning Board of Appeals in part because of its proximity to Pittsfield High School and Kids Zone. Residents of the Merrill Road area who are not pleased with Spectrum putting in a methadone clinic were told that Spectrum is an educational facility and can go wherever it pleases to dispense its drugs. Yes, methadone is a drug.

We have Allendale School and many homes with children but our concerns are being ignored.

Sandra Kenyon, Pittsfield
