Letter: For benefit of fans, Drury rocks the Beatles
For benefit of fans, Drury rocks the Beatles
To the editor:
"It was 20 years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play ..." The summer of love was given an early boost by the opening lyrics to an album which has stood the test of time. Filled with magic and poetry, and populated with beings with whom we fly and float to other shores beyond the imagination, The Beatles continue to urge us to play. And play we can.
So it was with the Drury Performing Arts Center's production of a classic moment in music. A packed auditorium last Thursday evening was treated to a spirited and nuanced performance, which by any measure of success, would rank as highly as one could hope to experience.
To the many players involved: Chris Caproni, Jamie Choquette, Aldonna Girouard, the soloists, chorus and band members and everyone else who created joy and fun with remarkable fidelity to the original, a heartfelt thank you.
"A splendid time is guaranteed for all."
The Drury High School community "rocks!"
