Letter: Fun, education at two Pittsfield spots

Fun, education at two Pittsfield spots

To the editor:

We have such wonderful entertainment and learning programs available in Pittsfield! My son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren (almost two- and four-years-old) were visiting from Texas and we decided to take them to the Berkshire Carousel and the Fun Friday at the Berkshire Museum.

We were all in awe at the beauty of the carousel — the gorgeous painted horses, the artwork of the local scenery — and were touched that a bench on the ride was made accessible for a handicapped person. The two gentlemen who were in charge that morning were wonderful with the little ones and made sure that everyone was riding safely. Our grandchildren rode many times and didn't want to get off!

The Free Fun Friday at the Berkshire Museum was also a hit with the grandkids. They tried all the tables in the spark lab and build bridges, buildings and towers with wooden blocks and colorful magnets. Again, it was difficult to get them to leave.

I hope that residents of Pittsfield and the surrounding towns will experience both the Berkshire Carousel and the programs at the Berkshire Museum and will bring their guests to both of these attractions. We are fortunate to have this special carousel and a wonderful museum to enjoy.

Pat Sadin, Washington, Ma.
