Letter: Government is issue, not corporations
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
In response to Sam Barrett’s April 10 letter "Join fight against corporate money," I must respectfully disagree with the reason of concern. In the letter Sam stated the message is clearly defined as, "Get the corporations out of our government, and let the people make the decisions."
It is not the corporations that have too much power and must back out of our political system -- in fact, it is really the total opposite. We, the people, must remove the power from our political system and government.
If the government had limited power, corporations wouldn’t be able to have any effect on the laws and on the people in the first place. The corporations could lobby all day but they wouldn’t be able to have any sort of leverage over our government because the government would be limited and wouldn’t be able to have any sort of impact on the people. Remove the power from the government and put it back in the hands of the people.
