Letter: Grateful for the work of museum

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

I am glad that the New England Holocaust Museum in North Adams has received a $3,000 grant to stay open. My grandparents and some of my aunts and uncles perished in the gas chambers in Poland. My dad and two uncles survived and came to Pittsfield after the war was over.

My dad gave many speeches on his Holocaust experience and also recorded his story on tape. My family is registered at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.

I thank the gentleman [Darrell English] who organized this museum and is struggling to keep it alive. As my Uncle Israel told me a few years ago, the Holocaust survivors are passing away and it will be up to the succeeding generations to keep the memories alive.

Within the next couple of weeks, I look forward to visiting the North Adams museum.
