Hospice physician earned 'Best of Berkshires' honor

To the editor:

It doesn't matter where you look, "best of" lists are everywhere. Many times it is obvious how some person or organization lands on one of these lists, other times not so much. It was with great pleasure, and no surprise, that I read that Dr. Jason Kittler was voted "Best Physician" in The Eagle's Best of the Berkshires poll.

The team of Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts has had the privilege of working with him as our medical director since 2010. For us it is clear why he was selected. To start, he is a highly intelligent and skilled clinician. But there are many excellent doctors. He is so much more than that. For the last six years, we have witnessed countless times when Jason has struck that perfect balance of science and art when caring for our patients.

Despite the demands of a busy primary care practice, he makes himself available to the hospice patients under our care. His thoughtful approach has put our patients and their families as ease at a most difficult time in their lives and enabled us to provide them better care. In addition, Jason's insight and humor have gotten the team through more than a couple of challenges over the years!

Dr. Jason Kittler is truly one of the Best of the Berkshires. We are proud to call him member of our hospice team.
