Letter: Mark is prepared to make move to Senate
Mark is prepared to make move to Senate
To the editor:
In response to Ben Downing's decision to retire from the state Senate, there has been a lot of speculation about a successor who can fill some admittedly large shoes. Ben, in our view, has done a great job representing the Berkshire and we are sad to see him go.
But, we are cheered that state Rep. Paul Mark has the experience under his belt to ably step in and pick right up where Ben left off. We urge him to take up this opportunity.
Rep. Mark was our representative in the Second Berkshire District for two years before he was redistricted away from us. We have continued to follow his career as he has traveled his district, and represented all of us in the Berkshires. His current district is mostly to the east of us, but he has always been willing to come to a meeting, hear a concern, explain a legislative controversy, and the story behind a headline.
Rep. Paul Mark has worked with Smitty Pignatelli, Trisha Farley-Bouvier, and Gail Cariddi as well as Ben for five years and has never stopped representing all of the Berkshires. As our state Senator he can put his experience to work for all of us. We hope that he will run.
