Letter: Mark would make an effective state senator
Mark would make an effective state senator
To the editor:
I met Paul Mark years ago when he showed up at what was then the Bell Atlantic garage in Pittsfield. As I got to know him better we turned from just co-workers to good friends, and that was when his qualities became evident to me.
He was a union steward, fighting for his co-workers' rights, he was honest, and dedicated. He was elected to the executive board of his local union and also joined the Berkshire Central Labor Council, where he was honored as the Labor person of the year in 2010. He gives his best effort to everything he does, whether it was representing his co-workers or driving across the state to night school to earn his degrees.
It was sad to see him leave as a co-worker and yet exciting to help him in his election to representative of the 2nd Berkshire District. His record speaks for itself. He is approachable, willing to help, and hard-working.
Sen. Ben Downing will be missed. I have a lot of admiration for what he has done as our state senator. I know that if Paul Mark decides to take that next step, this delegation will not miss a beat.
