Letter: Neales is right for choice for Lee
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
On Monday, May 12, the voters in Lee will once again go to the polls to elect a new person to the Selectboard. We heartily recommend Richard Neales.
A lifelong Democrat, resident and single father of Lee, Dickie will bring to the Selectboard his caring and concern for the town. His education in the Lee School Department, his experience in the former Lee mills, and now his work for the Lee Department of Public Works, are all indicators of his commitment and loyalty to Lee.
As for conflicts that may arise due to his employment with public works, many of you should remember our first lady Selectboard member, Lena Bettega, who was a dispatch operator when she won a seat on the board. The town survived, votes were taken, and she went on to give us many years of dedicated service. In small towns across the state, this is the norm.
In many ways, Dickie's employment in the DPW should be helpful by educating the board as to the everyday problems/resolutions that occur in a quicker, simpler manner. Between the DPW board, DPW superintendent, highway superintendent, and Bob Nason, there isn't that much that isn't taken care of before it even comes in front of the board for a vote.
So please, vote Richard Neales, Monday, May 12!
Peggy Biron is chairman, Lee Democratic Committee. Patty Carlino is a member of the Lee Board of Selectmen.
