Letter: No need for gun to mar dance
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Observing the fabulous company called Hubbard Street Chicago at Jacob's Pillow July 5 I was overwhelmed by the incredible talent of the dancers. I was also shocked when a gun appeared in one of the acts held by one dancer and aimed at another. The shot was alarming to me. Why would such a dance include violence?
Of course I knew the gun was not real, but why with shootings all around us must we go to Jacob's Pillow and endure the reflections of our society in the form of a dance as entertainment? As one who has been engaged in active nonviolent training, I ask, what was the purpose?
