Letter: No tolerance for hate crimes

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

The targeting of the home of Richard Rodriguez and his son in Pittsfield by hateful "Nazis" who used swastikas, etc., to threaten the family is deplorable. It speaks to the fact that even as most Berkshire County residents would oppose such actions, there are still people out there who are vicious and, in fact, scary.

I wish I were young enough and sturdy enough to offer Mr. Rodriguez my help and support in the difficult time he is facing -- even if it is only the memory of what was done to him. It is important for all of us to be aware that such terrible behavior does crop up from time to time and if we know something may happen to report it to the proper authorities, that is, the police.
