Letter: No walking away from fight with evil
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I hope I am not the only one who watches the news reporting of the atrocities going on worldwide and feels a sense of shame. Have we forgotten the immortal words "evil exists when good men do nothing"?
Many in our country are blind to what has made our country great. What built this country. Pride, strength, honor. They are things of the past.
Our brave soldiers have not forgotten. They understand and carry out their duties honorably. In the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan, they carried on. While the majority of our country has asked "What about me?" the soldiers have served the country.
Now after all that sacrifice our president announces proudly that we are done with war. What has happened to the pride displayed by this country after 9/11. Did people think it would be quick fix? This would be an ongoing battle. To go in with such fervor and then back out is a sign of weakness to the rest of the world. This makes us vulnerable and any leader that says otherwise is a babe in the woods in regards to world policy.
There is evil in the world, Mr. President. It can’t be reasoned with nor negotiated with. It must be neutralized and destroyed. For the good of the United States and the world.
