Letter: Our third world war, and those responsible

Our third world war, and those responsible

To the editor:

On March 7, 2003, my wife and I wrote a letter to George W. Bush, unelected president of the United States, pleading with him not to attack Iraq. He invaded shortly after that. The letter we received from the White House on April 30, 2003 was nothing by excuses, lies, nonsense and propaganda.

During the Bush/Cheney administration, I submitted 90 letters to the three newspapers we had at that time. blasting him and his team of war criminals. I have written an occasional one in recent years when I can't stand another minute of what is happening to the world. I thank The Eagle for printing them all, especially as they were all handwritten because I don't have a typewriter or a computer. My family has a scrapbook of them all.

Throughout those years I received numerous letters and phone calls threatening me and my family. Some of the writers were real masters of profanity.

There is one thing I wish I had written back then but never thought of. A friendly recently told me that she believes Bush/Cheney actually started the third World War, it just hasn't been declared yet. I add this thought to her's — not only has it not been declared it will never end!

My president and commander-in-chief in 1953-'54-'55 was General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Compare him to George W. Bush. Papa Bush get him into the National Guard to avoid the draft and according to most accounts he seldom showed up for duty.

I am now in my 84th year and know I will never live to see punishment dealt out to those who started the third World War. Probably no one else will ever see it either.
