Letter: Play offers insight into vets' dilemma

Posted

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

I found Berkshire Theatre Group’s production of "Hatful of Rain" to be very moving. I highly recommend it to the general public, but especially to our ever-growing veterans’ community in the Berkshires and beyond.

The story is set in 1955 and deals with a Korean War veteran who has PTSD and a drug addiction following rehab. Both the veteran and his family are affected, making it as relevant today as it was then. As an added incentive, according to the ads, veterans get 20 percent off on tickets.

It is my hope that those who see it will better understand the dilemma our veterans can face when returning from active duty.
