Letter: Post-mortem on hospital
To the Editor of THE EAGLE:
North Adams Regional Hospital has died. Cause of death -- the board of Northern Berkshire Healthcare. Due to incompetence.
This board and the CEO violated the 90-day notice law, only giving a three-day notice. In doing this, the people who need the emergency room are now at risk. Can they make it in time to BMC, 40 minutes, maybe more? If not, the board must be held responsible!
A three-day notice did not give those who use the hospital time to fight, which was so wrong. The longer it takes to reopen the ER, the more likely it is that someone will die.
To the board -- only cowards would not allow the users of the hospital to try and save it.
