Letter: Protect neighborhoods from industrial abuse

Protect neighborhoods from industrial abuse

To the editor:

My husband and I have enjoyed living in Pittsfield for more than 50 years. Our six children went through the school system and benefited from it. We have lived in a quiet, beautiful residential section, but our lovely neighborhood has turned into an industrial site. A huge solar field is being built across from our front yard where I have my beautiful gardens. The noise starts at 6 a.m. [The field is off Churchill Street.]

City bylaws did not protect us from this invasion as they do neighboring towns. I write as a warning to families in residential sections to be instrumental in changing bylaws for their welfare. I am in my 80s and will have to suffer this injustice, but other quiet neighborhoods could still be protected.

Louise Cianflone, Pittsfield
