Letter: Proud night for PHS, Pittsfield
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Friday was a PHS kind of night. It was a great gathering of school and community that came to watch some passionate basketball teams play and to celebrate the new gym floor.
That night, the "war on the floor" was honorably fought. Both sides exhibited tremendous talent and team skills. Fans of opposing teams sat side by side, peppered through out the bleachers, cheering on their own teams as they respected the efforts of their rival team.
Personal achievements -- Taconic’s Shaq Ardrey gets his 1,000 points. PHS freshman, Brice Daley hits a 3-point, game-winning shot with seconds to spare.
Honorable actions -- Publicly honoring and celebrating the new floor and recognizing contributors, teams and seniors.
Strength in Community -- Students, their families, friends and fans of Pittsfield Public School sports come together respectfully to enjoy terrific basketball.
I was proud of our city for its tremendous sportsmanship.
The writer is a business/technology teacher at Pittsfield High School.
