Letter: Proven way to make crossing street safer

Proven way to make crossing street safer

To the editor:

Madison, Wis., offers a cheap, simple, effective way to resolve the dangers of crossing Main Street in Great Barrington.

A bucket containing two-foot-long sticks with red plastic flags are placed on either side of a dangerous crossing. Pedestrians take a flag, wave it madly, cross safely, and place it in the bucket on the other side. It's fun, easy and safe!
