Letter: Provide a home for needy child
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I am pro-child! When every unwanted, raped, abused, sexually assaulted, hungry, neglected, homeless child is loved, provided a healthy home, feels safe, and lives in an atmosphere that encourages that child to reach his or her full potential, then I will know that we as a society have gotten our priorities right.
For those who lash out at a woman’s right to choose, I say, please change your priorities and find a child who has suffered from so much and create a home for that child.
This ongoing diatribe and onslaught of venom serve no good purpose and waste valuable time and hinder real solutions. To see that energy refocused will provide you with incredible joy and add such meaning to your life. And you cannot even begin to imagine what that will do for a child.
As a certified Massachusetts intensive foster parent for respite care these past four years, the love that has come from the many children who have come through my home has been astounding. This has become the most meaningful thing I have ever done in my life. And the need for loving, caring foster parents is critical.
So let’s change the paradigm together in the name of all the children who are here with us now. What an answered prayer that would be. And to that I can only say, "Amen and Amen!"
