Letter: Repudiate Trump's call to hatred, criminal violence
Repudiate Trump's call to hatred, criminal violence
To the editor:
Human history holds both virtue and atrocity. If a President Trump orders our military to torture prisoners and kill the families of terrorists, as he said he would, our military would be murderers and war criminals.
My father, son, and I are veterans. I would refuse, and I believe most military members would refuse, to obey such illegal orders, thus creating a civil military crisis, as retired Marine Gen. John Allen has warned.
There are two flawed candidates who could win this election. One is clearly better than the other. We must repudiate Trump's call to hatred and criminal violence. As William James said, "Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does."
