Letter: 'Romeo and Juliet' brought to life

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

I am a ninth grader attending Mount Greylock Regional High School who has traveled my entire life. During this school year I had the opportunity to read "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare. I was clueless about this affair as I had never heard about it.

After a few weeks of reading and analyzing this depressing and moving story, I was granted the opportunity to watch Shakespeare and Company perform the tragic love story between the "two star-crossed lovers" on April 17 as a field trip that Greylock’s astonishing English department put together. Shakespeare and Co. did a wonderful job of portraying the story in an entertaining yet kid-friendly way.

Out of all seven places I have lived in, the Berkshires have been the only place where being able to see live performances is inexpensive and is easily accessible to all. More people should take advantage of these opportunities because other people around the US are not as privileged as we are. Go see a live performance!

Students in the ninth grade at Mount Greylock have written letters to The Eagle about their visit to Shakespeare & Company in Lenox.
