Letter: Seeger's music will transcend

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

Just heard the news: Pete Seeger, greatest folk singer in the world, has died.

My old friend Annie and I used to play his "Live at Carnegie Hall" (with Arlo) album -- the delight was endless. One favorite was "One blue sky above us/ one ocean lapping all our shores/ one earth so green and round/ who could ask for more/and because I love you/ I’ll give it one more try/ to show our rainbow race/it’s too soon to die." ["My Rainbow Race"].

Pete, it was too soon, but your music transcends human suffering. Thank you.
