Letter: Selfless repair work at Hillside Cemetery
Selfless repair work at Hillside Cemetery
To the editor:
From spring to fall, if you go past Hillside Cemetery on Route 2 in North Adams on Wednesday morning and every other Saturday morning, you will see four men working hard. They are volunteering their time repairing grave stones that over the years have fallen or broken. They have discovered graves that had been overgrown by grass.
Veterans' stones have been repaired and flags replaced. Brush has been removed and stones cleaned by hand. This past year, more than 320 stones were put right.
These men — Roger Eurbin, Ed Marino, Larry Burdick and Brian Gardner — deserve our thanks for their service.
