Letter: 'Seussical' is a joy to behold
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
Last winter, Travis Daly, the director of the community education program, told my daughter (a 12-year-old actor) that we would be doing his favorite play this summer, "Seussical." His joy has been catching, and the entire cast and crew are infected with the "Seussical" bug. When the cast is on stage, the backstage crew is dancing in the halls. Someone told me that a 6-month-old baby sat enthralled upon their parents’ lap the entire show. Several others even told me they enjoyed this show much more than the original Broadway production.
I cannot imagine a better cast, set, costumes, choreography, direction, lighting, or sound that could surpass what I have seen on the Colonial stage this last two weeks. The amount of talent is astounding, especially so when you realize that most of the leads are youth and adolescents from our local schools. Our Cat in the Hat is exactly what I always imagined him to be when my mother read me the books, and then when I read my own daughter the Seuss books.
Special thanks to Travis, Susan Spicer and her crew, Mark Gionfriddo and his orchestra, Kathy Jo Grover and her dancers, Keating Helfrich and her costumers, the lighting, sound, set, hair and make-up people and everyone else involved in this production. My daughter has been in more than 20 productions but this is by far the best, and the most fun we have ever had!
