Letter: Spada's 'The Tempest' should not be missed
Spada's 'The Tempest' should not be missed
To the editor:
I read with great pleasure the announcement in Wednesday's Berkshire Eagle of Enrico Spada's plans to mount "The Tempest" as his 2016 Pittsfield Shakespeare in the Park production. What a wonderful opportunity for the Pittsfield community to experience, free, one of Shakespeare's most magical and enticing plays.
When I discovered that Spada had cast Glenn Barrett as his Prospero, the great magician at the heart of "The Tempest," my pleasure rapidly became excitement. In years past, I have worked with Glenn on many productions, including "The Tempest." He is the quintessential Prospero — magical, compelling, magnificent, yet deeply human.
I have already marked my summer calendar, reserving time to see "The Tempest." This is an opportunity not to be missed! Many thanks in advance, Pittsfield Shakespeare in the Park.
