Letter: Support charity, not the circus

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

It’s that time of year again when the circus comes to town, forcing elephants and other sensitive wild animals to travel and perform in the most unnatural and inhumane ways. I would urge anyone who cares about these beautiful creatures not to support such traveling events.

So, here is a thought for those businesses and individuals who want to support local charitable work but don’t want to support the cruelty that is inherent to circuses with wild animals. We could donate at a later time with the stipulation that the money does not go to pay for the circus cost, thus making sure that 100 percent of the donation goes to the intended charity work. After all, the purpose is to help as many people as possible, not pay a cruel outdated industry to entertain us!
