Letter: Syrian carnage ignored by media
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I note with regret the loss of life on both sides of the conflict in Gaza, especially the loss of civilians, women, and children. I am, however, amazed at the intense media scrutiny of casualties in Gaza as a result of this conflict.
A July 25 report in the Washington Post indicated that a total of 170,000 lives were lost in the last three years of the war in Syria. ABC News indicated on July 28 that "more than 2,000 Syrians -- almost half of them pro-government forces -- have been killed in just over two weeks of fighting in Syria."
How come the Syrian casualties are essentially ignored while the casualties in Gaza are prime news in all the media?
