Letter: The case against gun rationalizing

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

One can only be grateful to the critical thinking of your letter writer, Richard Delmasto ("Deadly spin on Second Amendment," June 9) for his intelligence, common sense and courage to put a name to the devastating absurdity of the Supreme Court revision of the Second Amendment.

We would like to believe in the wisdom of the judges, but as William Safire admonished: "Never believe the obvious is true." Not only has their decision been rationalized beyond any reason by gun dealers and owners who are far removed from the sportsmanship of hunting, but justified as well by those who wish to be thought of as progressive and tolerant.

Makes you wonder how sleep comes to the Supreme Court judges, or the gullible, after yet another tragedy of a shooting rampage. Mr. Delmasto's letter is the basis for any sane argument.
