Letter: The closing of Sears is a sign of the times

To the editor:

I don't see any reason why the closing of Sears in the Berkshire Mall should be a shock. With stores such as Wal-mart and and online stores such as Amazon that sell things at lower prices, how can stores in malls not end up going to the dogs?

It's just a matter of time before the Berkshire Mall is gone altogether. Movie theaters replaced vaudeville, DVDs replaced videotapes, CDs replaced record albums. And before long, movie theaters will be replaced by Netflix, laptops by smartphones, and malls by Amazon and Wal-mart. Times are changing.

Adams
