Letter: Theory offered on mystery Oregon sound

Theory offered on odd Oregon sound

To the editor:

ABC News recently had a story about a mysterious annoying sound in a small town in Oregon. The noise could be an old World War II P.A. system shouting out.

During World War II, there were no doubt numerous public alarms along the West Coast, especially where there was manufacturing. In fact, there were Japanese invading islands near the Alaskan coast.

Perhaps a building was torn down in the Oregon town and the alarm was buried underground. The town may have forgotten about it over the years.
