Letter: Vandals' act is a loss for Pittsfield

Posted

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

It was with sadness and disappointment I learned the wonderful Merino sheep wire sculpture was removed from North Street recently. I, along with so many others, thoroughly enjoyed its presence, In fact, whenever we had visitors I would make sure I took them on a tour to see our wonderful sculptures in downtown Pittsfield.

I personally felt really angry upon hearing it had been vandalized beyond repair. I can only imagine how the artist, Susan Treat, must have felt. Such an insult to the artist and the people of Pittsfield. I will never understand why these things happen.

I feel sad for those who need to do this for entertainment. They’re sick I guess. I will sure miss that sheep. Thank you for sharing it Susan, and I’m so sorry this happened.
