Letter: We abide by the rule of law

Posted

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

I remember when an officer of the Ma. Registry of Motor Vehicles used to sit in traffic court. If the defendant was found to be not guilty the registry might step in and say "but we think you are guilty anyway" and take the defendant’s license on the spot. This practice was seen to be wrong, and was abolished.

In the Scott Muir case, people are upset with the court, and perhaps with some cause. But Stockbridge is not the wild west. There is no place here for vigilante justice.
