Welcome TV-free venues in downtown Pittsfield

To the editor:

In Carole Owens' June 2 op-ed commentary, "The vast wasteland," the disdainful connections between restaurants and "ubiquitous" TVs is made.

If you take a walk through downtown Pittsfield you will find Thistle and Mirth, no TV; District Kitchen and Bar, no TV; Hotel on North has a blurry one on a side wall around a corner, but the dining room and bar, no TV; Methuselah Bar and Lounge, no TV; and Mission Bar and Tapas, no TV.

If you want to interact with local personalities and characters instead of TV personalities and characters, patronize these places.

Peter Calderella, Pittsfield
