Lies, deceit from Nixon up to Rove
I remember while at sea on the U.S.S. Springfield hearing the sad news of Senator George McGovern’s defeat in the 1972 presidential race. The conservatives were high-fiving and mocking "The People’s Republic of Massachusetts."
In a short time, re-elected President Nixon would resign in disgrace, a testament to the untoward consequence of gaining the presidency by lies, de ception and felonious behavior.
Forty years later, Karl Rove and his backers gave witness to the unfortunate sagacity of Satayana’s admonition that those who ignore history are doomed to suffer the consequences of their ignorance.
